“That’s what I can’t stand about politicians. They are so phony. I don’t care what party they are. They act one way behind closed doors. And then when they are in public they’re all prim and proper. You should hear the conversations behind closed doors.”
— Doug Ford, Globe and Mail video, March 13th, 2018.
Doug did it again.
Today, when confronted with video evidence of his opposition to rent control, Doug Ford denied and claimed he would do the opposite.
Just like when he got caught making promises to developers about opening up the Greenbelt, only to reverse when he got caught on tape.
Just like when he supported Tanya Granic Allen despite everything she said in writing, dropping her only when her hateful comments were caught on tape.
Ford’s long-standing opposition to rent control is a fact. But he is reversing only because he got caught on tape.
The truth is Doug Ford opposes rent control.
In the same tape where he criticized politicians who say one thing behind closed doors and do another, Ford said this about rent control: “I just don’t like it. I like having the market dictate.” (Globe and Mail video, March 13th, 2018.)
Just like he wants to help developers pave the Greenbelt.
And turned a blind eye to Tanya Granic Allen’s hateful statements.
